We are getting ready for our 15th annual CHRISTMAS WISH coming in December, brighterning the holidays for local families where a child or parent is coping with cancer--families that don't have much to begin wth. Our goal is to keep the spirit of Christmas alive for these kids to experience a little of the joy of Christmas.
And once again SEALA is helping us out!
SEALA (Southeastern Association of Legal Assistants) is back to volunteer their help, joining with Carrabba’s to raise money for Christmas Wish. Last year was a huge success - raising almost $3,000! All you do is enjoy a great lunch at Carrabbas Italian Grill in Savannah! (Eat in or they will deliver.)
Tickets are $20 per person with $12 of that going to Christmas Wish. The menu consists of Chicken Marsala, Penne Pomodoro, Caesar Salad and Bread. You can dine in or carry out. If you dine in, the presentation of your purchased ticket will include a drink and gratuity. (Normally, if you were dining in, this meal would cost $16.50, not including the drink and gratuity.) For those offices ordering at least 5 meals, a SEALA volunteer will deliver the meals to your office!!!
The date for the event is Thursday, September 12. We must have your money by September 6 (we will accept checks made payable to SEALA). If dining in, the hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All you have to do is show up during that time frame and present your purchased ticket.
We hope you will participate in this great cause. For those that do not know about Christmas Wish: Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC) teams up with 98.7 The River to help local families impacted by cancer. The families do not have much. When cancer is thrown into the equation, they are in desperate need. Often, the parent(s) have to quit their jobs or miss extensive periods from work to care for the sick child. Christmas for these families is impossible without the caring gifts from others.
The staff of The Children's Hospital At Memorial writes letters about some of the hardest-hit families. The letter is addressed to Mark Robertson at 98.7 The River, who reads the letter on the air to raise money for that family. The families never receive cash; they receive gift cards or items the family wants or needs. People wishing to contribute can either adopt one or more families or they can donate to the general Christmas Wish fund. The money raised from the Carrabbas lunch will be used to help those families--and others at the hospital whose letters will not be read but who are still very much in need.
This fund raiser is a wonderful way to both donate money to this worthwhile cause while receiving a delicious meal in return!
